On Aug. 25, 2005, victims and family members of the two massacres, Aug. 20, 21, were gathered in the abandoned high school in Gran Ravine (now the Jacques Roumain H.S.) by AUMOHD with accompanier, Tom Luce, from Hurah, Inc. to begin working to protect them from further assassinations and to start the case for non-violent justice.
The first massacre (Aug. 20, 2005) was carried out in the view of 5,000 soccer fans at the St. Bernadette stadium in Martissant, close to Gran Ravin. The perpetrators were police and a paramilitary group called “Lame Ti Machet” The Little Machete Army. Clearly a case of government-backed terrorism. They had a list of Lavalas leaders whom they sought out and killed–over 50. Below are separate articles and slide shows detailing the horrors.
