GOVERNMENT COLLUSION (GRAN RAVIN) 2005-06
On Aug. 25, 2005, victims and family members of the two massacres, Aug. 20, 21, were gathered in the abandoned high school in Gran Ravine (now the Jacques Roumain H.S.) by AUMOHD and Hurah to begin working to protect them from further assassinations and to start the case for non-violent justice.

REVENGE
From 2003-2006 using violent terrorism to further their political objectives, paramilitary groups intimidated and killed hundreds of innocent people and destroyed property in Central Plateau and Grand Ravine as the government of President Aristide was attacked and finally removed in Feb. 2004. These people were massacred because they were allied with the political party supporting President Aristide, Lavalas.
PRAISED AS FREEDOM FIGHTERS, AIDED BY POLICE
These armed groups claimed that they were getting revenge for alleged violence against them by the Lavalas party in previous years. When the interim, questionably legal, government under Prime Minister Latortue, took over, he praised these men as freedom fighters. Even the police department took part in the first massacre in Grand Ravine in 2005.
ONE STEP FORWARD, THEN BACK TO ZERO: INTERAMERICAN COURT EYED
The victims of Central Plateau and Grand Ravine went unattended until the legitimately elected government of Pres. René Préval was approached. In 2007 AUMOHD, a non-violent, non-partisan legal service met with Plateau Centrale victims and families and took comprehensive testimony to prepare for the courts. His Prime Minister Alexis agreed to take on both the Plateau Centrale and Grand Ravine cases and process them for reparation. When he was fired by the parliament, these cases fell back into oblivion. Now AUMOHD is planning to take these cases to the Interamerican Court for redress. Read the detailed accounts here in two parts:
